As first reported by Felix Chavez of the El Paso Times, El Paso Eastwood senior quarterback Seth Ochoa has returned to the Trooper football team and could see action as early as next week. Head coach Julio Lopez confirmed that Ochoa was back with the team to TexasHSFootball.com on Friday.

Ochoa has not played in a game since last September at Odessa Permian, where he tore the ACL in his left knee and ended up missing the remainder of the season. He was projected as the starter heading into the 2017 season, but had left the team right before the start of preseason practice. At the time, Lopez said that Ochoa, a Texas Tech baseball commit, wanted to concentrate on playing baseball only.
Ochoa was on pace to having a big year, recording 846 total yards and 11 total touchdowns in three games last season before his injury.
The El Paso Times also reported that sophomore Chris Castaneda will get the start tonight for the Troopers at Bel Air on Friday night. Castaneda had a strong debut after a tough start, throwing for 389 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to Midland Christian last week. Lopez told TexasHSFootball.com that Ochoa would be available in emergency duty.
