HUNTSVILLE, Texas- There is a new career passing leader at Sam Houston State. Senior quarterback Jeremiah Briscoe was able to surpass former China Spring star quarterback Brian Bell (8,655 career passing yards), for the record in Saturday’s Homecoming victory over Lamar 63-27.

“I had no idea until Jason Barfield told me after the game.” Jeremiah Briscoe on breaking the record. “I’m honored, what Brian Bell did here, it’s truly a blessing.”

The record breaking play came for Briscoe, as he connected with Coree Compton on a 57 yard strike down the right sideline for his 90th career touchdown. Briscoe became the 3rd overall in league history for touchdown passes on the play as well, moving ahead of SFA’s Brad Attaway.

“It’s a great feeling but I wouldn’t be where I am without my offensive linemen and receivers.” Briscoe said “These receivers make me look good catching balls and turning them into touchdowns.”

Briscoe left the game early in the third quarter, but not before leading the Bearkats to scoring drives on 10 of their first 12 possessions. Briscoe finished the game 17-36 passing for 371 yards and 4 touchdowns.

During his career, Jeremiah Briscoe has put up some very impressive numbers.
