Like many other Dallas-area recruits during the COVID-19 pandemic in-person recruiting freeze, Eby’s plan is to “stay close to home.” Seven out of SMU’s 12 2021 recruiting class commits are from the DFW area while an additional 20 Dallas area natives have committed to Baylor, North Texas, Rice, TCU, Texas and Texas A&M.
Rated as the 68th strong-side defensive end according to a 247sports composite, Eby recorded 78 tackles, 22.5 tackles for a loss, six sacks, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles as a junior for Flower Mound finishing with a 8-4 record in the 2019 season.
As a three-star recruit, Eby chose SMU over 16 other schools including Baylor, Duke, Dartmouth, West Point, North Texas, Georgia Tech and more.
