Friday night saw the 40th battle between Tomball and Tomball Memorial. The Tomball Memorial Wildcats came out on top to improve to 4-0.
The Wildcats have looked outstanding this year. They led off the season with a 55-7 win over Langham Creek, and followed it up with a 66-63 win over Beaumont West Brook, and a 69-35 win over Deer Park. With this win over Tomball, they might move into our Top 25. The Tomball Cougars came into this game at 3-0. The opened with a 39-27 win over Willis, then a 37-27 win over Waller, and last week beat Port Neches-Groves 30-27. But, they could not stop the high-powered Wildcats offense.
The Wildcats have put up 55+ in every game this season, and they put up their third straight 60+ game against Tomball. Wildcats Wide-Receiver Joseph Manjack stole the show. He filled in at Quarterback for Colton Marwill. Without Marwill, there was some question of whether the offense could still put up big numbers. Manjack answered that quickly. He totaled 7 touchdowns! He had 5 touchdowns on the ground and rushed for 215 yards. He added two more passing touchdowns and threw for 134 yards. Running back Richard Rodriguez also had a great game, running for 187 yards and two touchdowns.
Tomball Quarterback Cale Hellums put on a great performance in the loss. He rushed for 257 yards and threw for 70. Also having a good game for the Cougars was running back Jaylen Johnny, who ran for 126 yards and a touchdown.
The Cougars will look to improve to 4-1 as they play at Klein Forest next week. The Klein Forest Eagles are 1-2, losing to Klein Oak 7-37 this week. The Tomball Memorial Wildcats will look to keep their undefeated season rolling as they face Klein Cain next week. The Klein Cain Hurricanes are 2-1 having just beat Klein 37-20 last night.
