Marvin Mims Was Simply Marvelous at Frisco Lonestar

With a 37-inch vertical leap, he could high point the ball over helpless defenders. A 4-star recruit, he has stamped his name as the leading receiver in Texas high school football history. He is Marvin Mims of Frisco Lonestar.

Mims set the state record for receiving yards in a season (2,626) and career receiving yards (5,485).  He helped lead an offense that averaged 49 points per game. Lonestar scored 40 points in a game twice, 50 points four times, 60 points twice, and 70 points twice.

Mims was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore and the 5A Offensive MVP as a junior.

A Record-Setting Year

Going into his senior year, Mims already had over 100 catches in his prep career. He would top that in one season. His game performances:

He caught 114 catches for 2,626 yards and 31 touchdowns. For his stellar work, Mims was named Mr.Football in Texas and a USA Today All-American.

 

College Days

Mims had several scholarship-offers coming out of high school, including Baylor, Colorado, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M. He signed with Oklahoma.

As a freshman with the Sooners, Mims caught 37 passes for 610 yards and 9 touchdowns. He was named to the Freshman All-American Team by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and 2nd Team All-Big 12.

Marvin Mims is one of the best returning wide receivers in the country for 2021. And with QB Spencer Rattler returning for his sophomore season, this QB/WR duo will put Oklahoma in the conversation for the college football playoff yet again.
