The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met on Tuesday to determine the eligibility of student-athletes from the following schools: Killeen Ellison, El Paso Americas High School, Tenaha, and Duncanville.
They convened again on Wednesday to hand down decisions on the eligibility of those student-athletes.
The student-athletes from Killeen Ellison High School, El Paso Americas High School, Tenaha High School, and Duncanville High School were denied an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committee.
The State Executive Committee also met in an emergency session. The committee found that the Wolfforth Frenship High School football team allowed an ineligible player to participate in its contest versus San Angelo Central High School.
It was also determined that the school did not exercise enough due diligence in determining the eligibility of the student-athlete in question.
By rule, the minimum penalty for allowing an ineligible player to participate is forfeiture.
