Maxwell’s Houston Rankings: Part 1
Week 5 of the Texas High School football 2023 season has passed as we are entering week 6 it means we’re at the halfway point. Since that is the case this is the perfect time to look at the rankings and standings in the Houston area. In this three-part article, I will be counting down the top 15 Houston teams.
15. Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes (4-1)
The Hightower Hurricanes had a great start to their season currently 4-1 they suffered a loss against The Ridge Point Panthers. They have great athletes like; running back #6 Jeremy Payne, wide receiver #4 Zion Kearney, and quarterback #1 Joseph Stewart. These three are the cornerstone of the Hightower’s offense and a big reason why they’re ranked in the top 15.
14. Pearland Oilers (3-1)
The Pearland Oilers are currently 3-1 having only lost to The C.E King Panthers who are ranked in the top 10 and are undefeated. Besides that, Pearland shocked everyone by beating The Shadow Creek Sharks making them the best football team in the Pearland area. They have great weapons on both offense and defense like; wide receiver #1 Patrick Bridges, cornerback/safety #3 Ashton Hampton, and running back #4 Ladamion McDowell.
13. Ridge Point Panthers (3-2)
The Ridge Point Panthers had a rough start to the season having to play two of the best high school in Texas. First again The Austin Westlake Chaparrals then against The Dickinson Gators. They played great games against both of these teams but couldn’t seize victory in the end. However, after those games, The Panthers have been on a hot streak with three consecutive wins one of them being a heated game against #15 The Hightower Hurricanes. Ridge Point has a lot of offensive firepower with quarterback #12 Austin Carlisle, wide receivers #3 Mason Dossett, #4 Dane Jones, and #8 Ashton Bethel-Roman. They also have twin running backs #20 Wesley Drummer and #21 Quincy Drummer.
12. Klein Collins Tigers (3-1)
The Klein Collins Tigers are a solid team and would be higher on this list if they didn’t get destroyed by The Summer Creek Bulldogs which are top 5 in Houston. Klein Collin’s best player is their quarterback #2 Tucker Parks. Even while getting beat against Summer Creek and not even scoring a single touchdown Tucker showcased why he was one of the best quarterbacks in the city.
11. Tomball Memorial Wildcats (4-0)
Tomball Memorial Wildcats the last couple of seasons has not been a big competitor. However, this season The Wildcats have been completely dominating. They have averaged about 40 points a game and beat Klein Cain 79-33 which is most likely the reason for their current rank. Tomball Memorial’s quarterback #15 Aiden Martin has been a big reason for their latest success throwing 15 touchdown passes and rushing in two touchdowns himself.
