ACU moved to the Southland Conference in the Division I ranks in 2013 after years of football excellence in Division II. The Wildcats have had some expected troubles as they swing into tougher competition, only reaching a 2-9 mark in 2016, a 3-8 record in 2015, and moderate success in 2014 with a 6-6 record.
There’s no telling where each team will be in the years to come. Texas Tech might have a brand new coach, as some of the shine has begun to wear off Kliff Kingsbury. ACU might make it into a bigger conference, as the politics of expansion have seen some huge shifts in the past decade.
