Ahead of Houston’s big Saturday matchup with SMU, the Cougars may be down their All-American defensive lineman. Head coach Major Applewhite indicated on his weekly radio show that Oliver was day-to-day officially diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his left knee.
Oliver left Saturday’s game against Temple with that sprained MCL and did not return to the game. The Cougars defeated the Owls 20-13.
“He’s feeling better,” Applewhite said via the Houston Chronicle, “We will continue to evaluate him day in and day out and see how he’s doing at game time.”
After a breakout freshman season, Oliver has put up solid numbers so far in 2017. He’s accumulated 23 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks through four games.
The Cougars take on the Mustangs at 6:oo p.m. CST at TDECU Stadium.
