Argyle Eagles Extend Regular Season Winning Streak With Thrilling Road Win at Paris

Coming into Friday Night’s game on the road against Paris, the Argyle Eagles were set to defend their etc 46 game regular-season winning streak. What happened next was a bombardment of points as Paris would not go away. But, when it was all said and done, Argyle’s explosive offense held on for a thrilling road win, 65-44.

Argyle Texas is one of the best towns for high school sports in all of Texas.  Weekly the entire community packs the stands to watch what has been one of the most winningest teams in the nation, their Argyle Eagles.

The team’s last loss came during a 2015 road game against Celina in which they fell 46-36.  The team is averaging over 550 yards of offense per game this season and is led by University of Houston Baseball commit Bo Hogeboom who has thrown for 1946 yards while accounting for 32 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions through the teams first seven games.  Hogeboom has a strong core of receivers, led by Cole Kirkpatrick who has supplied 800 yards and 11 touchdowns.  Baylor Baseball commits Alex Gonzales, maybe Hogebooms most consistent target has 6 touchdowns on the season.

The running back tandem of Tito Byce and Luke Farris has also been a strong point of the soaring Eagles attack.  Byce has ran for 810 yards and 9 touchdowns while Farris has 512 yards and 4 appearances in the endzone.  The defense is also doing their part as their 18 sacks, 6 interceptions and 7 forced fumbles (4 recovered) have also been instrumental in the success of the team.

The city of Argyle is not unfamiliar to state championships.  The school’s baseball team, which features many football players as members of their core, has won back to back state championships while the girl’s basketball team has delivered the school four straight title game wins.  Despite the regular-season success of the football team, they have not seen a state championship since 2013.  The team avenged a tough playoff loss to would-be state champion Waco La Vega earlier this season with a 49-35 win in Waco.

Next Friday, the Eagles will look to extend their winning streak to 47 as they prepare for a 4A top 10 showdowns with 10th ranked Melissa in Argyle.
