Arizona State linebacker and former Allen Eagle star Christian Sam announced on Monday that he would forgo his final season in Tempe and declare for the 2018 NFL Draft. The redshirt junior had one more year of eligibility after redshirting in 2016.

Sam was a standout on defense for the Sun Devils in 2017, leading the team in tackles (127) while also accumulating 9.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. He did not play in the Hyundai Sun Bowl due to an injury.
He emerged as one of the leaders on defense under former head coach Todd Graham and also is the third Sun Devil to declare for the draft, which includes defensive lineman JoJo Wicker and offensive lineman Sam Jones.
Sam finishes his career with 240 tackles, 17 for a loss, intercepted three passes and forced three fumbles.
