Austin Carlisle Continues To Impress As Houston Great

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

Ridge Point quarterback Austin Carlisle boasted a school-record six touchdown passes in last Saturday’s non-district victory over George Ranch in a 55-27 rout. The Longhorns came into the match with their best start since 2015, when they won the Class 5A-Division 1 state championship. Still, they had no answers for Carlisle’s record-breaking night.

The Panthers established separation by the third quarter, outscoring their opponent 20-0. Senior receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman—Carlisle’s favorite target—led the team with seven catches for 151 yards and three touchdowns.

In his first full season as a starter for the Panthers, Carlisle has emerged as one of the very best quarterbacks in Houston. So far this year, the 6-foot, 180-pound junior has completed 104 of 156 passes for 1,593 yards and 21 touchdowns, with only three interceptions through six games. He is also second on the team in rushing with 254 yards and four touchdowns on 54 carries.

So far, Carlisle has a penchant for airing the ball out, averaging 10.2 yards per pass attempt and 265.5 passing yards per game. Four of the Panthers receivers has 11 or more catches.

In each of his three previous games, Carlisle tied the previous records in a game with four scores respectively.

Known primarily aș a rushing quarterback, Carlisle got the starting nod about halfway through last year’s regular season. This year, he has served as QB1 since training camp, giving him ample opportunity to control the offense.

Ridge Point extended their four-game win streak after dropping their first two contests, managing a 4-2 record. They now hold a 4-1 all-time advantage over George Ranch. After Saturday’s win, the Panthers are the lone undefeated squad left in District 20-6A.

Next up, Ridge Point plays Elkins at Mercer Stadium. George Ranch will host Bush.
