Baylor snagged a stud by adding a new quarterback commitment to their 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon. Alvin Shadow Creek three-star quarterback Kyron Drones took to twitter to announce his commitment to the Bears:

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound athlete had an explosive junior season in 2019 when he led the Shadow Creek Sharks to a perfect 16-0 record topping off the season with a Texas. Class 5A Division I State Championship Title. The star quarterback accounted for more than 4,200 offensive yards and over 60 total touchdowns.
Drones led Shadow Creek to a 28-22 state title victory over previously unbeaten Denton Ryan with 182 passing yards, two interceptions, two scores, and 24 rushes for 135 yards. Drones accounted for 317 yards of total offense out of Shadow Creeks total of 397 offensive yards. With his state title game statistics, Drones was able to finishhis junior season with 3,402 passing yards and 46 touchdown throws with only 10 interceptions. On his feet, Drones ran for 825 yards and carried in 18 rushing touchdowns averaging 6.2 yards per carry.
Drones is ranked No. 17 nationally among 2021 dual-threat quarterback prospects according to 247Sports. Drones is No. 79 overall and No 49 overall in Texas’ 2021 recruiting cycle after leading the 2019 Shadow Creek team to an average of 48.3 points per game- outscoring their opponents by an average of 36.9 points per game.
Drones has over 25 schools that have been vying for his attention including Auburn, Georgie Tech, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, North Texas, Houston, Texas State, and more, but Baylor caught the star’s eye. With a commitment from Drones, Baylor has landed eight commitments in the 2021 recruiting class (six from within the state) putting their ranking in the top 30 nationally on 247sports’ Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.
