During the season opener to Liberty, the Baylor Bears lost more than just the game, they lost their starting running back as well. Sophomore JaMychal Hasty was the starter for the Bears on Saturday and rushed for 56 yards and 1 touchdown on 11 carries before leaving the game with a knee injury.
According to head coach Matt Rhule, the former Longview Lobo star would miss the next four weeks of the season.

The injury to Hasty will put the Bears in a bind because they were already without RB Terrance Williams with a shoulder injury for at least the next two games. The load will now fall on freshman running back John Lovett, a Rhule recruit from New Jersey that replaced Hasty after he left the game on Saturday.
The Bears also have freshman Trestan Ebner listed as active on the depth chart, but Lovett will likely get the start. He finished the game against Liberty with 90 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. He’ll need to carry even more of the load moving forward after the Bears leading rusher against Liberty was quarterback Anu Solomon who ran for 96 yards on Saturday.
Baylor hosts UTSA this coming Saturday in Waco.
