Things are looking good for Gary Patterson and his staff. The TCU Horned Frogs have managed to earn the verbal commitments of eight talented recruits. The Frogs finished 11-2 last season, a campaign that they capped off with a stellar comeback bowl victory over Oregon.

Looking forward, Patterson has found his quarterback in the future in Desoto gunslinger Shawn Robinson.

Rated the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the nation by 247sports.com, Robinson brings a combination of speed, instinct and improvisation that will leave Big 12 defensive coordinators trying to find a way to stop him. Standing at 6’1”, he’s a pretty average, maybe even a little undersized, but he’s thick.

Robinson broke the hearts of Longhorns fans when committed to TCU. He was the top quarterback target for head coach Charlie Strong and his staff. It shouldn’t have been too much of a shock for UT fans. According to Robinson, he said that TCU was his leader since the first time he stepped foot on campus.

Looking at his film, Robinson is similar to past TCU quarterbacks like Trevone Boykin, except for being more poised. He should develop well over time and thrive at picking apart Big 12 defenses.

While he’ll be in the pocket making plays, Robinson will need some protection up front. TCU’s lone offensive line commit, Wes Harris, will offer that protection. The 6-foot-3, 285 pound guard from Aledo, TX is a mauler, with great feet and strength.

Kenedy Snell will be a viable option at wide receiver for Robinson. Despite only measuring in at 5’8”, and weighing only 170 pounds, Snell is elusive and fearless. He’s a great slot option with a one cut ability that helps him shake any defender. RJ Sneed is also another name to look forward to at receiver. The 6-foot-2 pass catcher from Cypress Ranch (Cypress, TX) has great field awareness and sure hands.

On the defensive side of the ball, Dennis Collins looks to make a name at defensive tackle. The West Monroe, La native is an athletic lineman with a high motor. Weighing in at 256 pounds, he’s lighter than your average defensive tackle, but he should fill out in due time. Round Rock native James Lynn also will look to make an impact at d-tackle.

Trestan Ebner is an athlete TCU picked up out of Henderson, who will mostly likely make an impact at receiver at the next level. Lakendrick Van Zandt, a teammate of Ebner, will look to star at Safety for the Horned Frogs.

Omar Manning is a name TCU fans need to pay attention to. The 6’3” receiver out of Lancaster, Texas is interested in coming to Forth Worth. He’s a consensus four-star talent.
