Cedar Hill Continues Comeback Bid, Beats Tomball

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

For the fifth time this season, the Cedar Hill Longhorns held their opponent to seven points or less. Cedar Hill triumphed over Tomball 28-7 on Saturday afternoon at Waco ISD Stadium.

A stout rushing attack was the deciding factor, where Cedar Hill outgunned the opposition 350 to 47 on the ground. Dayshun Reese-Williams had 15 carries for 140 yards and a touchdown; it was his fourth consecutive 100+ yard game. Cedederick Castleberry finished with 10 carries for 118 yards and two scores; it was his second consecutive 100+ yard game. Additionally, the total offensive output (473 yards) was more than double Tomball’s total.

Despite their recent success, head coach Nick Ward’s first season with the team didn’t exactly start out the way the Longhorns planned. After a 5-5 regular season, in which the team barely clinched the fourth playoff spot in District 11-6A, Cedar Hill upset the highly touted Plugerville Weiss in the first round of the playoffs. Cedar Hill has now improved to five consecutive wins, including victories in seven of the past eight. Coach Ward has become the first Cedar Hill head football coach to win his first three playoff games. In the Lone Star State, coach Ward led Cleburne ISD from 2016-18, followed by North Mesquite in 2018-19. Last season, Ward was on the coaching staff of Midlothian High, helping the Panthers to an 12-1 record.

The Longhorns will face DeSoto at 7 pm on Friday in Kincaide Stadium. DeSoto won the previous contest 35-13 on October 20th. Since then, Cedar Hill hasn’t lost.
