Coach Houston Guy Out At Wall Following Over Two Decade Stint

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

After a historic run with Wall High School, football coach Houston Guy will be resigning after 17 seasons with the program. In December, coach Guy was informed that the district would be moving in a different direction for the position. Under his tenure, the Hawks made making the third or fourth round in the playoffs an expectation every year.

Wall finished their last season under coach Guy 11-3 overall and 5-0 in district play. However, the team’s lopsided 31-12 defeat against Canadian in the quarterfinals would ultimately mark his last game as head coach.

He will leave the program as Concho Valley’s winningest coach, posting an impressive 167-49 overall record, including a sole state title berth back in 2013. In total, the Hawks saw 14 winning seasons and 11 seasons of double-digit wins, including making back-to-back regional finals. Additionally, the Hawks fielded eight straight years of 10-or-more wins, lasting from 2010-17.

Despite his departure, coach Guy plans on seeking another coaching job. Before his 24 year stint with the Wall program, he was an assistant coach at Valley View, Winters, and Christoval.

Coach Guy will submit resignation papers later this week. His son is currently a senior at Wall.

Defensive coordinator Craig Slaughter is currently the favorite to land the job.
