Davenport Accounts for 7 TDs: Spring 69-Tomball Memorial 21

The Spring High School Lions rolled into Planet Ford Stadium Thursday night averaging 42 points per game on offense as they hosted the Tomball Memorial Wildcats. The keys to that offense are safely tucked away deep in the pocket of QB Bishop Davenport.

Davenport accounted for seven touchdowns (5 passing and 2 rushing) in a 69-21 beat down of the Wildcats. It was the second consecutive week that Davenport accounted for seven touchdowns, as he and the Lions shut out Klein Oak 49-0 in Week 2.

Bishop Davenport: 4 Touchdown Passes in the 1st Half

Spring scored three times in the first quarter with two touchdown passes by Davenport: a 30-yard TD pass to Travis Sims and a 25-yard scoring toss to Bralen Martin; and a touchdown run by Myron Carter.

Davenport did more of the same in the 2nd quarter. He threw two touchdown passes to two different receivers: a 30-yard scoring pass to Joshua Lopez and a 23-yard scoring toss to Myron Carter. Tomball Memorial QB Reed Odell threw a TD pass to Brode Bogard to get the Wildcats on the scoreboard as the Lions raced to a 41-7 lead at halftime.

Bishop Davenport: 3 More Touchdowns Accounted for in 2nd Half.

And of course, it was the Bishop Davenport show in the third quarter. He threw a 33-yard scoring pass to Sims; his second TD catch of the game. And, Davenport rushed for two touchdowns from inside the red zone. Spring increased their lead to 62-7. Tomball Memorial’s Nyle Hughes added a 13-yard rushing touchdown at the end of the 3rd quarter. Spring 62-14.

The Lions’ defense got in on the scoring as well, with Bryce Morton picking up a loose fumble and returning it 60-yards for a scoop and score. Spring increased its lead to 69-14.

The Wildcats Jason Durrett thew a 10-yard scoring pass to Edson Felix in the final moments to bring the score to 69-21.

Spring moves to 3-0 on the season and averaging 52 points per game with Davenport at the helm. The Lions have an open date next week and then face off against Spring DeKaney on September 24th.

Tomball Memorial falls to 1-2 and will take on Humble Kingwood next Friday, September 17th.
