The Decatur Eagles faced the Brownwood Lions in the 4A Division 1 Quarterfinals on Friday, December 1.
The Eagles came into the game 11-2, having just beaten Lubbock Estacado, 52-21, in the regional finals. Brownwood came into this game 12-1, having just beaten Springtown, 37-17.
Decatur started off the game, taking a seemingly commanding 21-7 lead. However, Brownwood fought back and scored 21 straight to take a 28-21 lead in the third quarter. Then, Decatur took back momentum, put up the next 10 points, and had a 31-28 lead late into the 4th quarter.
With 1:36 to go, Brownwood took the lead back, going up 35-31. However, Decatur once again responded, and with just 0:04 left, they found the endzone and secured a 38-35 win.
