For a team favored to win the state championship, Duncanville certainly lived up to the hype in Round 1.
The Panthers did what they had to do, outclassing Temple 49-7 in the bi-district playoffs.
Temple received the ball first and promptly turned it over on a backfield collision, recovered by junior KJ Ford. In response, on the first play from scrimmage, quarterback Keelon Russell completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Trenton Yancey.
The score opened the floodgates for Panthers domination, putting up 42 unanswered points by the halftime period, including this Madden-esque scramble and touchdown pass to Emmanuel Ellison.

By the break, Duncanville’s longest scoring drive lasted a mere one minute and 27 seconds; their offense was highlighted by a 14 second, 60 yard drive to find the end zone at the conclusion of the second quarter.
Entering the third quarter, Keelon Russell was already done for the night, replaced by Maximus Denson, whose primary responsibility was to run clock.
In limited time, Russell finished with five touchdown passes, including a 64 yard scramble for a rushing score. Receiver Dakorien Moore pulled in his 14th touchdown of the season on an 80-yard catch-and-run.
Duncanville will go head-to-head against Rockwall next Friday. The Yellowjackets are coming off their own 50-17 blowout against Sachse, where they forced six turnovers and accounted for 368 yards of offense.
The teams last faced each other in the playoffs on December 14, 2019, where Duncanville upended Rockwall 56-14.
