Deuce Wild: Vaughn helps Kansas State upset Oklahoma
Freshman running back Deuce Vaughn made a name for himself on Saturday by helping the Kansas State Wildcats shock defending Big 12 and then-third ranked Oklahoma 38-35 on Saturday. The former Round Rock Cedar Ridge star hauled in four catches for 129 yards to go with 51 yards on eight carries for Kansas State (1-1, 1-0). His 38-yard touchdown scamper with 8:17 remaining tied the game.
The Wildcats the final 24 points at Oklahoma (1-1, 0-1). Kansas State was missing key contributors due to COVID-19, was a 28-point underdog by various outlets and the loss caused Oklahoma to fall to No. 18 in the latest Associated Press poll.
Vaughn was a Texas Sports Writers Association All-State honorable mention at Cedar Ridge in 2018 and 2019 and the District 13-6A Offensive MVP as a junior and senior.
The Wildcats go for their second straight conference win on Saturday when they welcome Texas Tech (1-1, 0-1) at 2:30 p.m. on FS1.
