Former Lubbock Cooper Star Helps Lead Upset

Redshirt junior quarterback Jarret Doege led West Virginia to its biggest win of the season, a 37-10 home blowout of Kansas State on Saturday.

Doege completed 22 of 34 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns to help the Mountaineers remain in Big 12 Championship Game contention. West Virginia is one of six teams within a game of the conference lead, including Kansas State (4-2, 4-1).

The former Lubbock Cooper star helped West Virginia score 17 unanswered points to take control of the game in the first half.

Doege had touchdown passes of five and 15 yards in the first half.

He threw for 3,363 yards and 33 touchdowns as a senior at Cooper and transferred to West Virginia after playing for two season at Bowling Green.

West Virginia goes for its second straight upset on Saturday when it visits No. 22 Texas (4-2, 3-2) at 11 a.m. on ABC.
