Bean comes in to lead UNT to win
Redshirt sophomore Jason Bean gave the Texas Mean Green offense a boost on Saturday by scoring five total touchdowns in UNT’s 52-35 win over Middle Tennessee.
Bean entered the game in the second quarter and gave the Mean Green offense a dual-threat at quarterback which lead to UNT (2-3, 1-3 Conference USA) scoring 45 points in the final 45 minutes of the game against Middle Tennessee (1-5, 1-3).
The former Mansfield Lake Ridge star completed 12 of 17 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 10 carries for 180 yards and three scores.
Bean ran for a 48-yard touchdown that tied the game at 28 points apiece early in the third quarter. The Mean Green took the lead for good on Bean’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Deonte Simpson (Beaumont West Brook) midway through the third quarter.
In his final two years at Lake Ridge, Bean threw for 4,638 yards and 49 touchdowns while rushing for 1,224 yards and 10 scores.
UNT has a bye week and visits UTEP (3-2, 0-1) at 1 p.m. on Oct. 31.
