Trask leads Florida to SEC Championship Game
Florida senior quarterback torched another Southeastern Conference defense on Saturday with 433 yards and four touchdowns as the Gators beat the Tennessee Volunteers 31-19 on Saturday.
Florida (8-1, 8-1) clinched the SEC East title with the win over Tennessee (2-6, 2-6) and held its spot at No. 6 in the latest Associated Press College Football poll.
Trask, a Manvel alum, completed 35 of 49 passes and did not turn the ball over. He has thrown 38 touchdowns, the sixth most in SEC history in a single season.
His four-yard touchdown pass to Trevon Grimes gave Florida the lead for good at 10-7 midway through the second quarter.
He capped the Gator scoring by tossing an eight-yard touchdown to Jacob Copeland to make it 31-7 Florida with 11 minutes, 21 seconds remaining.
Trask helped Manvel to an 11-3 record as a senior and a berth in the Class 6A, Division II Area Quarterfinals.
Florida hosts LSU (3-5, 3-5) at 6 p.m. Saturday on ESPN.
The Gators will play No. 1 Alabama (9-0, 9-0) in the SEC Championship Game at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 on CBS.
