Florida quarterback Kyle Trask continued his streak as one of the nation’s weekly passing leaders tossing five touchdowns in Florida’s 37-34 loss to LSU on Saturday.
Florida (8-2, 8-2 Southeastern Conference) likely dropped out of the College Football Playoff conversation with the loss to LSU (4-5, 4-5). The Gators fell five spots to No. 11 in the latest Associated Press College Football poll after the loss.
LSU kicker Cade York (Prosper) hit the game-winning 57-yard field goal into the fog with 23 seconds remaing to pull off the upset.
Trask completed 29 of 47 passes for 474 yards.
The Manvel graduate was a perfect 3 for 3 on the final Florida drive and helped the Gators drive from their own 25 to the LSU 33 to set up a 51-yard field goal attempt with two seconds left that missed.
Trask helped Manvel to an 11-3 record as a senior and a berth in the Class 6A, Division II Area Quarterfinals.
Florida takes on No. 1 Alabama (9-0, 9-0) in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday at 7 p.m. on CBS.
