After breaking Texas high school and NCAA passing records throughout his playing career, Graham Harrell is back in his home state trying to show he can succeed as a college football assistant coach, preparing for his first season as the offensive coordinator and QBs coach at North Texas.
“It’s all been exciting, it’s all been new, but I think this is an awesome spot to be,” Harrell said. “To have a chance to come down here and recruit Texas high school football again has just been awesome.”
Harrell won a state championship at Ennis High School and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voiting as a senior at Texas Tech. He spent last season working as an assistant with his former college head coach, Mike Leach, at Washington State, and is planning to bring Leach’s same spread offense attack to Denton.
