Saturday turned out to be a very good day for Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns as they added another quarterback to the 2018 class and took one from their rival. Four-star Newbury Park (California) quarterback Cameron Rising announced his commitment to Texas on Saturday, flipping from his original commitment to Oklahoma.

Rising is the second quarterback to commit in the Class of 2018 for Texas and the fourth overall. It comes just a week after the commitment of Casey Thompson from Oklahoma. He had originally committed to the Sooners last August and had offers from Alabama, Michigan, LSU, and TCU among several others.
According to 247Sports, Rising is a Top 10 pro-style quarterback in the country and No. 16 overall prospect in California. On another note, Rising is the third out-of-state commit for Texas in the Class of 2018.
2015 was a big year for Rising, throwing for 3,213 yards and 40 touchdowns and just one interception. 2016 was shaping to be another good year, but only played in five games last season after missing time with shoulder injuries. In those five games, Rising threw for 1,349 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions.
After this commitment, Rising says that he will be shutting down his recruitment to focus on academics and his senior season.
