Greg Little made the American Family Insurance ALL-USA preseason team and is the No. 2 player in 247Sports.com’s composite football rankings for the class of 2016. The senior offensive tackle at Allen, Texas, helped lead the Eagles to two of their three state titles and the team has a chance at a fourth this season. He has agreed to give USA TODAY HSS exclusive access to his world by chronicling his season at Allen, which is 10-0 and No. 2 in the Super 25 high school football rankings.
Hey, how you doing? This is Greg Little.
Some people call me Gregory, some people call me Greg, some people call me Gregory Hendrix. I just thought Jimi Hendrix was a cool name, so I kind of like it, but I don’t play any instruments. When I was younger, I took the cello for a few years. Hendrix was just kind of different and I try to be a different kind of cool. I’ve had some different hair styles. I’ve had long hair, short hair, blonde hair, a Mohawk, I’ve done them all. Right now, I just have an average low cut that’s pretty simple. I can cook just about everything, but lately, it’s been pretty much all about football.
Friday, I’m planning to announce my college choice. I’m looking forward to getting it out of the way. The recruiting process is what you make it. It has been an amazing journey, and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity. I just want to be comfortable wherever I go. Every school has great academics. You can’t go wrong with any of them. It doesn’t matter, because I’m planning to graduate from wherever I go, and I’m planning on majoring in business or finance. The best thing about recruiting is when I got my first offer, from Texas A&M. Every one of the coaches I talked with was cool, but in different ways. Before I make my announcement, I plan to contact the coaches and thank them all. It was a pretty easy process and my mind is made up.
My last visit was to Alabama (for the weekend of the LSU game on Nov. 7). It was a very cool, laid-back trip and it opened my eyes up to a lot. The best thing about the trip was the game. I was there with Kareem Walker, Isaac Nauta, and Janarius Robertson. I know a lot of those guys, it was cool hanging with them and Coach Saban is a great guy. We went to his house for breakfast.
Last week, I had my 18th birthday. I had a lot of people from school wish me happy birthday, including some of my teachers, who are really cool. Everybody in school has been really supportive. My family and I went out to dinner at Pappadeaux’s Seafood Kitchen and I had mahi-mahi.
