A three-star prospect out of the Houston-area, Thomas picked up his offer from the Cougars on May 5, which marked just one of his only two offers; North Texas offers on May 17. Rather than extend the recruiting process, Thomas elected to remain home and play for a program that’s now on the map following the previous two seasons under Tom Herman.
Now at the helm, Applewhite and his staff are beginning to hit their stride on the recruiting trail. Thomas’ Monday commitment now gives Houston its sixth in the last month and third since the start of June. Houston’s eight-man 2018 class now ranks No. 50 in the nation and No. 3 in the AAC.
Following a junior season in which he hauled in 43 receptions for 773 yards and 13 touchdowns, Thomas ranks as the nation’s No. 243 wide receiver prospect and the No. 245 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
