Lately, Texas Tech has had some issues with health at the running back position, making depth a necessity for the season. Today, they got a little bit more depth at the running back position with the graduate transfer of Derrick Mitchell Jr. from Iowa.

Mitchell never saw truly serious playing time at Iowa. In the 2016 season, he only carried the ball twice, for 12 total yards. 2015 saw him get a little more work, as a junior he ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Regardless, the Red Raiders could use the depth, and his transfer is surely welcome in Lubbock.
