A three-star prospect, Young visited Iowa State over the weekend and ultimately sided with the Cyclones offers from Houston, Missouri, Purdue, SMU, Oregon State and Arizona among others to become Iowa State’s second commit of the day, along with Gerry Vaughn.
Young described his game to 247Sports.
“[I’m] 6-1 that can run pretty fast for my size and my versatility, I can play nickel, safety corner and my ball skills. I’m a pretty tough dude, many passes don’t go above my head.”
Ranked as the nation’s No. 643 prospect, Young is now the top-ranked recruit in Iowa State’s current 2018 crop, which now ranks No. 37 nationally and No. 7 in the Big 12.
At 6’1, 201 pounds, Young is ranked as the No. 49 safety prospect in the nation and the No. 81 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
