SAN ANTONIO — This freshman is having one great week.
After leading the Roadrunners to a senior night win, the walk-on Jared Sackett was named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, per information from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Sackett kicked three field goals last week when the Roadrunners took on Marshall. He made every one of them, which also happened to be the only points UTSA scored that night. He’s the third Roadrunner to be named the conference player of the week this season.
After the game, Sackett received plenty of praise from coaches and players alike. Sackett, a Timber Creek (Keller) high school alum, has made 17-of-19 attempts this year. His only two misses have been longer than 40 yards. He’ll try to put a bow on his first regular season this weekend at Louisiana Tech.
