The Lake Travis Cavaliers faced off against the Lehman Lobos at Bob Shelton Stadium Friday night for a District 25-6A matchup. It appeared to be more of a live scrimmage from the Cavaliers perspective, with a convincing 68-0 throttling of the Lobos.

It didn’t take long for Lake Travis to strike, converting on their very first play from scrimmage for a 40-yard touchdown pass. From then on, the Lobos struggled to even move the ball into enemy territory, being dominated by Lake Travis in every aspect of the game.

After two quick touchdowns to go up 14-0 with 8:48 left in the first, the Cavaliers attempted an onside kick, which they recovered at the Lobo 49 yard line. After this trickery the rout was on and the Lobos were never able to get back on their feet. The first quarter score was 45-0 and the Cavaliers were not done yet

Lake Travis appeared to be the superior team across the board; the boys in white were just more physically imposing and two steps faster than the team in Lobo blue. This win solidifies that the Cavaliers are the real deal in for 25-6A. They now hold a 3-0-district record and a are riding a six game winning-streak.

Though they were on cruise control, Lake Travis boasted a defense that allowed zero points and was never really challenged. The offense stepped on the gas and never looked back, scoring on one-play drives twice in the first quarter alone. With an offense that posts almost 300 yards per game in the air and 200 more on the ground, this was to be expected against a 1-5 Lehman squad. The Cavaliers are currently ranked No. 3 in the state, with aspirations to add a sixth state title, which would be their first since 2011.

The Cavaliers are looking ahead to capture the 25-6A-district title with the likes of Vandegrift and Westlake trailing just a game back; Lake Travis has already taken down Westlake 49-7 and plays Vandegrift on November 4th. As of right now the Cavs control their own destiny, as long as they avoid any upsets Lake Travis should keep on cruising right into the playoffs with a deep run in mind.
