Liberty Hill has found the replacement for one of the best coaches in all of Texas high school football. As it turns out, they didn’t have to turn very far. Former Liberty Hill offensive coordinator Jeff Walker was named the head coach of the Panthers on Thursday night by Liberty Hill ISD.

Walker takes over for longtime coach Jerry Vance, who announced his retirement in January. Vance finished with a 155-46 record during his 16 seasons and led the Panthers to two state championships in 2006 and 2007. The hire also indicates that the “Slot-T” offense is there to stay at Liberty Hill.
Walker was the offensive coordinator at Liberty Hill from 2002 to 2008 and was on staff during that title run. He previously served as the head coach at Rogers up until 2014. Per Chuck Licata via the Austin American-Statesman, Walker was working within the Liberty Hill School District as a teacher.
