What Big 12 team projected in the bottom half will finish higher, possibly in the top 3-4 of the league?
For this one, I’m going to go with Iowa State. They’ll have Allen Lazard, possibly the most underrated player in the entire Big 12 returning for his senior year. I like Joel Lanning at linebacker, and former four-star Jacob Park appears to be the real deal. The only reason Iowa State hasn’t been more of a punching bag in the Big 12 is Kansas. They’ll have to go on the road to face most teams, but they’ll get Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, and Kansas at home, and Ames is a tough spot to play in.
Non Big12 team you’re most excited about?
I really like Coach O at LSU, so I’ll go with LSU. The Tigers have the most fun defense to watch in the nation every single year.
What’s the biggest upset that will happen this year in the Big 12?
I think West Virginia has a really good chance at upsetting Oklahoma State at home. Morgantown is a far spot to travel, Justin Crawford is an underrated running back, and I think Grier (codename: Metal Grier Solid) is going to be a good quarterback. Oklahoma State is the clear-cut best team in the Big 12, but they’ll have to navigate two potentially difficult road games at WVU and Iowa State.
I’m from Indiana but coming to Texas this fall. I want to watch some good, classic Texas HS football. Houston area, can drive some. Advice?
Oh boy, there’s some good games coming up right off the bat. Here’s a breakdown of seven really good games, I’m personally going to try and make it to Katy vs. The Woodlands. I don’t think The Woodlands will have to rebuild as much as others do, and Katy’s going to be motivated after the hurt the Highlanders put on them last year. Also, you can’t go wrong checking out a Manvel game. The Mavericks scheduled some tough, good teams. I would try to make it out to an East Texas game if you can drive though. They’re really, really good.
Which game are you most excited to attend this year?
I don’t have a schedule set in stone after Week 4, but I’m really stoked on Carthage-Gilmer, and I’m going to do my best to make it out to San Angelo to catch Permian-San Angelo Central. I don’t think Central takes a huge step back and I think Permian takes a massive step forward this year. This one could decide which West Texas team will give a DFW team a massive run for their money in the third round of the playoffs.

Yes, the metaphysical act of tweeting becomes tangible as soon as you press send. You can’t take that back.

I grab my quill, a well of ink, and settle in to create my own parchment. The act of creating parchment takes too long, and National Signing Day passes. I’m forced to sign with the team I committed to because all other teams drop their offers because I quit all football activities to make a bunch of parchment.

The Texas Longhorns are back for another season of exciting football! New head coach Tom Herman seems like a good change for the program, and he has the state buzzing! Who knows what the future holds for the Longhorns! Well, we’ll find out very soon!
What’s your hottest take?
If Colt McCoy doesn’t get injured in the national title game against Alabama, Texas wins, and Mack Brown becomes what Nick Saban is. More money is funneled into Texas, and they become the dominant force they always could’ve been.
