On Friday night, the Matadors traveled to take on the Mustangs to continue district play.
Estacado Matador
DJ Johnson continued his dominating performance from last week as he completed 7 of 12 passes for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns. He connected with receivers Cedric Ross twice for 44 yards and a trip to the endzone, Deeondric Green twice for 34 yards, and Devoryea Boyd, who also had 2 receptions for 12 yards and a touchdown.
James Bozeman put up some video game numbers as he racked up 180 rushing yards on just 4 carries, finding the endzone 3 times. Cedric Ross, as dangerous on the ground as he is in the air, put up 96 rushing yards on his 4 carries, getting in the endzone once. Bobby Ross added to the dominating rushing attack by logging 74 yards on 10 touches.
Andrews Mustangs
The Mustangs tried to keep up with the Matadors but couldn’t, as Leeroy Milan rushed for 125 yards on 26 carries, finding the endzone once. Jasean DeBouse added to the rushing total by running for 89 yards on 19 touches. The Mustang defense couldn’t find a way to stop the Matadors all night, as the Matadors ended up running away with it.
Estacado won 52-14.
Next week Estacado will return home to take on Brownwood, who is coming off a dominant 66-0 win over Lake View. Andrews will have a bye week but will resume district play against Brownwood on October 27th.
