New Era for Calallen Wildcats
Charlie Reeve is the new man in charge of the Corpus Christi Calallen Wildcats, stepping in as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Reeve replaces Steve Campbell, who stepped down in February, marking the first time the head coach job for the Calallen football team had been open since 1984.
Two years ago, legendary coach Phil Danaher retired due to health reasons, and long-time defensive coordinator Steve Campbell took over. The Wildcats went 7-4 last year after having gone 12-1 in 2022, and 10-2 in 2021.
The Wildcats will once again lean on a very experienced coach to lead the program. With a solid 19 years coaching across high school and college fields, Reeve’s seen it all – from New Caney to Katy Seven Lakes, and even college gigs at Texas State and UTSA. Football’s in his DNA, thanks to his dad Mark, a legendary coach, and his brother Travis, steering the ship at El Campo.
Reeves will look to lead Calallen back to the top of South Texas high school football. Calallen has made 40 playoff appearances and reached the state title game twice, and they hope that Reeves will be the coach to take them over the top and bring them their first title.
