According to a report from KWTX’s Taylor Williamson, Mexia’s new Head Football Coach and Athletic Director will be Frank Sandoval.
Mexia ISD has confirmed that Frank Sandoval will be their new HFC/AD, pending board approval. He was previously the DL coach at Cedar Hill.

Sandoval comes to Mexia by way of Cedar Hill, where he was the defensive line coach. New Cedar Hill coach Carlos Lynn said of Sandoval, “This is a great opportunity for Coach Sandoval. He is a hard working coach and truly deserves this promotion. I support him 100 percent and am very proud of him.”
The Longhorns went 11-3 in the 2016 season. Their only losses were to Bishop Gorman (NV), who would go on to win the mythical national championship, and to DeSoto (twice), who would go on to win the state title.
The Mexia Black Cats were not so lucky. They had a down year, only posting a 2-8 record, with some losses coming by 30 points or more. To make matters worse, the Black Cats won their first two games fairly handily before dropping eight straight.
