Reasoning
In terms of pure storylines, this game easily has the most. Bremond has Roshauud Paul, the winningest player in the history of Texas High School football. Paul is 47-0 as a starter, and a 48-0 record would arguably cement him as the best of all time, giving him a claim to the prize over Kyler Murray of Allen.
In order to get there, Bremond will have to go through Iraan, who is playing with a purpose after the passing of a cheerleading sponsor in a bus wreck. The scene at Shotwell Stadium this past Friday was emotional, as well over 800 cheerleaders showed up to show support for the Braves and their family as they were hurting.
Iraan won that game, based on a strong running game and an explosive passing game. In order to win the game, the Braves will have to strike quickly and strike often. We all thought that Bremond might have met their match after Burton took an early lead on them, but the Tigers still hit back harder en route to a 50-31 win.
There’s simply no other way to beat Bremond. You have to outscore them, and you have to get on them early, before they force you into being one-dimensional. We’ll know how this game will go after the first quarter will be over.
There’s no real way to quantify how emotion affects teams on the football field. It can become too much in the moment, and the anticipation can zap you of energy. It can also be the main motivating factor in an upset win. We’ve seen the Braves use it positively once this season, and we like them to do it again. However, we also feel like Bremond is simply too good to get blown out. We think that this game will be extremely close, and it will definitely be the most emotional game of the weekend.
