The Jalen Green commitment was not the only win on the recruiting trail for the Texas Longhorns on Friday. Quarterback Roschon Johnson of Port Neches-Groves made his commitment on Friday night via Twitter.

Johnson chose the Longhorns over offers from Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Penn State and Texas A&M among others. The rising junior also becomes the first commit of the 2019 class for the Longhorns.
Johnson was in Austin on Friday night as part of the big “Stars at Night” camp that saw a number of top prospects attend from across the state.
The dual-threat quarterback shined bright last season for the Indians, putting up 2,318 yards and 23 touchdowns passing and 1,650 yards and 30 touchdowns rushing. For his effort, he was named District 22-5A MVP.
Per 247 Sports Composite, Johnson is ranked as 2019’s No. 159 player, the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 20 player in Texas.
Port Neches-Groves opens their season at Silsbee on September 1.
