QB Run for 199 Yards, Throws for 126 Yards, 5 Total TDs

We Asked, You Answered: Performance of the Night Nominee –

JORDAN ROGERS

La Vega quarterback Jordan Rogers has himself a game!  He had 5 total touchdowns, 199 yards rushing and 126 yards passing, leading the Waco La Vega Pirates to a 42-24 win on the road against Stephenville and keeping his team in first place in District 5-4A.

The Pirates got off to a slow start. They were up 14-10 after a 37-yard touchdown pass by Rogers. Rogers and the Pirates took control quickly in the third quarter with Rogers throwing a 61-yard touchdown to JaiBrian Bouye, and then scoring on a touchdown run on the next possession to go up 28-10. The Stephenville Yellow Jackets fought back and cut the lead to 28-17, but then Rogers put the game out of reach with a 51-yard touchdown run.

La Vega is 29-4 over the last two years and is coming off of a State Championship.  They graduated many key starters, including 7 on defense.  They have reloaded and find themselves 5-1.  Their scheduled game next week against Brownwood has been canceled and they will be awarded the win, making them officially 6-1.  They finish the season with Midlothian Heritage and Alvarado.  Their only loss is to Argyle, 35-7, but Argyle is the best team in the state in 4A.  With Jordan Rogers leading the offense, the Pirates will have a chance to make it back to the state title game.
