ARGYLE, TX – The Argyle Eagles are 8-0, but will be looking for a new quarterback starting today.
Friday night, Argyle’s senior quarterback Jon Copeland went down with an ACL injury. According to reports from the Denton Record-Chronicle, Copeland confirmed he has a ACL tear and partial tear in his MCL.
Copeland was leading the Eagles to a perfect 8-0 record with his Arm. The senior had 2,043 yards and 24 touchdowns matched with only four interceptions. He had also picked up more than 250 yards on the ground.
The injury happened Friday night when the Eagles were taking a win against Sanger, 42-14.
Although Alex Gonzales took over the final drive for Copeland, the Denton Record-Chronicle also reports the Eagles have yet to decide on a quarterback. They do have a few options, as Hayden Clearman and Gonzales have both thrown passes this year.
Argyle coach Todd Rogers was unavailable for comment at this point in time.
