Sealy ISD named a new Head Football Coach and Athletic Director yesterday. The news was first shared by Matt Stepp on Twitter.

The new Head Coach is Clint Finley. Finley is a native Texan, born in Andrews, Texas. He attended Cuero High School, where he was a standout quarterback, playing for his father, Mickey. He then left the state of Texas and went to Nebraska to play Safety.

Finley’s college career was impressive, earning him recognition, such as Honorable-Mention Academic All-Big 12 in 1998. Although he wasn’t drafted, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys in 2001 as an undrafted free agent. However, he didn’t secure a spot on the final roster.

His fortunes changed when he joined the Kansas City Chiefs on February 20, 2002. Despite facing initial setbacks, including being released and signed to the practice squad, he persevered and eventually made it onto the active roster. During his time with the Chiefs, Finley played in four games and made one tackle. Additionally, he had a brief stint with the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe, where he showcased his skills in all ten games of the 2003 season, recording an impressive 57 tackles.

Following his time with the Chiefs and Berlin Thunder, Finley returned to the Dallas Cowboys for a second stint in 2005. However, his time on the team was short-lived, as he was released a few months later, effectively concluding his professional football career.

Post football playing days, Finley transitioned to coaching and took up positions as the Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Los Fresnos CISD and later at Big Spring ISD. Most recently, he was an assistant coach for Midland Legacy before accepting the job with Cuero.
