SMU picked up a commitment from West Texas on Wednesday when Lubbock Coronado offensive lineman Jaylon Thomas announced his commitment to the Mustangs.

With the commitment, Thomas becomes the 12th commit in the Mustangs 2018 class for head coach Chad Morris.

The 6-4, 270 pound lineman was a first-team all-district selection last year ands was part of a core unit that helped Lubbock Coronado make one of the biggest turnarounds in the state. After going just 3-7 in 2015, the Mustangs finished with an 11-2 overall record and a spot in the regional semifinals in the Class 5A Division I playoffs.

He and the rest of the offensive line will be a key part in getting Lubbock Coronado back to those same heights in 2017.
