Southlake Carroll Crushes Competition with DI Talent

Southlake Carroll Dragons

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

Southlake Carroll is a team loaded with collegiate prospects. They’re also a team bullying the opposition. Through six contests, the Dragons are outscoring their opponents 324-66. Only Eastwood, in the home opener, had over 20 points, but Southlake Carroll put up 70 in that particular matchup.

Last year’s showdown between Southlake Carroll and Keller was decided by three points, leading many to speculate that the No. 1 Dragons playing No. 4 Indians would be a tight contest. However, it was more of the same for Southlake Carroll, utilizing their DI-ready starters in a 56-10 route last Thursday.

After grappling with an eligibility dispute, running back Riley Wormley made his debut after regaining his eligibility since transferring from Colleyville Heritage. In total, Wormley rushed for 109 yards and a score in the team’s 56-10 victory. Since August 26, Wormley has visited USC, SMU, TCU, Baylor, and Texas. He also holds offers from a dozen schools.

Quarterback Graham Knowles passed for 237 yards and touch touchdowns, finishing with 10 of 14 passes. At a massive 6’7, 220 pounds, Knowles went 3-1 last playoffs, only falling to Denton Guyer in the fourth round. He is currently a Georgia Tech commit.

Knowles aired it out to his numerous weapons. The offense was on full display, with Jacob Jordan (Oklahoma commit) picking up 81 total yards and tight end Jack VanDorselaer (uncommitted 4-star prospect) bringing in a 91-yard touchdown. Additionally, the team hosts the No. 1 kicker in the country, Kyle Lemmermann (TCU commit), consistently booting it in over the uprights.

The eight-time state champions has reduced the number of undefeated in District 4-6A to two. Trophy Club Byron Nelson is the only other perfect team so far. Both teams will go head-to-head on October 27.
