Southlake Carroll Puts Together Complete Package In Blowout Victory
A touching dedication. An eye-popping scoreboard. A quarterback frenzy.
Things couldn’t get much better in Southlake Carroll’s home opener, annihilating El Paso Eastwood 70-21 last Friday.
Before the game, Southlake Carroll hosted a ceremony, renaming Dragon Stadium and dedicating the field to former head coach Bob Ledbetter, who led the Dragons to three state championships. Ledbetter and his family were on hand to watch the clobbering, which saw Southlake lead Eastwood 42-14 at the half.
Starting quarterback Graham Knowles stole the show with five touchdown passes. Knowles, a Georgia Tech commit, completed 19 of 27 passes for 322 yards, including all five of his touchdowns in the first half. However, he wasn’t the only shot caller who made an impact. Backup quarterback Angelo Ronda accounted for two scores, and third-stringer Carter Lind had one.
The lopsided victory gave the Dragons a chance to get most of their roster on the field. Next, Southlake Carroll hosts Marcus in a non-district meeting. The Marauders dropped their first contest last Friday against Highland Park 56-24.
