“Sqwirl” Williams Scurrying Away From Baylor

Roof Replacement from Ja-Mar Roofing & Sheet Metal

Arguably one of the greatest names in Texas HS Football history, Sqwirl Williams is entering the NCAA transfer portal. One of the Baylor Bears’ best offensive players last season, Craig “Sqwirl” Williams finished second on the team in rushing with 101 carries for 557 yards and four touchdowns, as well as 11 catches for 80 yards and a score.

A former four-star recruit in the 2018 class, Williams is entering the portal as a grad transfer. Baylor will replace him on the depth chart with freshman All-American Richard Reese along with returners Qualan Jones, Oklahoma State transfer Dominic Richardson, and incoming Franklin stud Bryson Washington.

A former standout at Crosby, Williams had 17 career 100+ yard games, accounting for 4,000+ yards of total offense. Williams eclipsed the 150 rushing yard marker in seven of Crosby’s 11 games his last year, including passing 250 rushing yards thrice. In his senior season, he earned District 21-5A MVP honors and ran a 4.36 time during his 40-yard dash at The Opening regional in Houston.

Williams got his unique nickname from when he was out scrambling on the field at around five year old. He chased and caught a squirrel after a challenge from his father.
