A duo of star Dallas-Forth Worth TXHSFB players announced their commitment earlier this week. Duncanville defensive end Colin Simmons announced his commitment to Texas and Duncanville running back Caden Durham announced his SEC commitment to LSU. Under coach Reginald Samples, both athletes were able to perform at the highest levels in the state and produce extraordinary numbers.
Colin Simmons, Defensive End—Senior
At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Simmons used his relatively small size to his advantage during his junior campaign, recording 22.5 sacks and 79 total tackles. Overall, Simmons is the No. 8 prospect in the country; he is the No. 1 defensive player and No. 1 best prospect in the Lone Star State. He is the first 5-star prospect joining the Longhorn’s 2024 class of commits and is the highest-rated recruit at his position for the program since Jackson Jeffcoat in 2010. After leading the nation in pressures last season, but struggling to convert sacks, Simmons has a chance to start as a true freshman for the Burnt Orange.
Simmons will begin his senior campaign coming off both an undefeated season and Texas Sportswriters Association’s defensive player of the year honors.
Caden Durham, Running Back—Senior
A 4-star prospect, Durham went off in his junior year, carrying the ball 210 times for 1,960 yards and 36 touchdowns. His run game contributed heavily to the team’s success, leading Duncanville to its first state title championship since 1998, where the Panthers ultimately triumphed over Galena Park North Shore 28-21. Durham carried most of the offensive load, scoring three times in the victory.
Overall, Durham is the No. 95 prospect in the country; he is the No. 9 running back in the country and the No. 18 overall prospect in the Lone Star State. Durham joins 14 other 4-star prospects on LSU, although he is the first running back in the class for the Tigers.
