No. 11 Rockport-Fulton (9-3) and No. 15 Wimberley (9-3) face off Friday at Memorial Stadium in Beeville in the Region IV-4A, Division II game. The teams are playing to advance to the quarterfinals and continue their push towards a state title.
Area Round Recap
Rockport-Fulton dominated Hondo last week in the area round at Edgewood Stadium. The Pirates have an incredible running game and used it against Hondo from the start. In the second quarter alone, Rockport-Fulton scored 22 points against Hondo’s 13. Rockport-Fulton beat Hondo 56-25.
Wimberley is coming off of a huge area win over Raymondville. In the opening quarter, Wimberly scored three touchdowns. After Raymondville kept the Texans scoreless in the second quarter, the Texans pushed through with two touchdowns in the third and four in the fourth. Wimberley advanced with a 63-35 win over Raymondville.
Looking Ahead
Wimberley scored 487 points against opponents this season while Rockport-Fulton has scored 452. Wimberley has allowed almost 100 less points than Rockport-Fulton.
