FORT WORTH — In a not-so-surprising move, TCU has moved down to No. 12. After last weeks loss to OU, the Horned Frogs now have two losses.
TCU has two more games, against Texas Tech and Baylor. Both are games it can win. However, even if it finishes with two losses and wins the Big 12, the conference is likely left out of the playoffs.
As of right now, OU is No. 4 in the rankings and are now the only real shot at the conference having a representative in the CFP. Oklahoma State rests behind TCU, as most would expect.

For the past few weeks, the conference was garnering respect from the committee. That was not the case this week. Now with multiple two-loss teams, there are only three remaining in the top 25. Iowa State dropped out after a 49-42 loss to Oklahoma State.
The conference’s perception that is the lack of defense was not helped this weekend either. As TCU, considered a top defense in the country, was taken to the woodshed. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State continue to be shaky on that side of the ball.
Committee members must be thinking of this as they continue to put other teams above Big 12 teams in certain areas. OU at No. 4 behind Clemson and Miami is questionable, but not the worst situation. As of Tuesday night, the Sooners are the only realistic chance at the conference making it into the playoffs.
